'Desire for No-Desire'

Updated: Apr 21, 2023

What desires can be truly satisfied? What, in this realm, can we even attain? And when or how do we ever know if we've had enough of something that we have desired? How often do we experience satisfaction - superficial or deep? And that brief, temporary lack of desire, due to attainment of what we desired - how often to we reflect on that moment and truly appreciate it? Do we recognize those moments as times of peace? Or do we just move on to the next desire, the next, the next, the next, always something else that we want - we need - we think we need - we want so badly that it becomes a need - a deep, unruly desire. What do we do? How well do we know ourselves? Do we define ourselves with our desires OR with our moments of peace? Those rare moments of a lack of desire, at least desires that we are aware of. And is it a lack of desire because we attained what we desired or because we reasoned within ourselves that what we THOUGHT we wanted was not, in actuality, what we truly wanted? And are those moments even that rare - or are we just not observant enough? How can we increase our awareness of these moments? How can we know for sure?

Take time to notice when these moments occur and take time to bring it about. Because, as it is said, peace is the highest happiness. And what is peace but moments of deep contentment, satisfaction -- moments without desire for something else? Moments of stillness. Moments filled with gratitude. Moments filled with love & goodwill.

May you be well & happy. May we all be well & happy. May we all find true peace and happiness.
